Wednesday, May 8, 2013
This season's Food Drive for the Urban Family Ministries, performed by the West Raleigh Exchange Club every baseball season and currently led by WREC member Ed Curran, broke all known records.
In previous seasons, West Raleigh Baseball families donated about 2,000 pounds of food to this worthy cause. This season, a record 3,200 pounds of food was collected!!
Once again, the league shows that it can do more than just develop the talent of youth baseball players, but do more good for the community.
Congratulations and thank you. ... Full Story |

| Print ArticleIMPORTANT: Rabid animals in WR areaWritten by: West Raleigh
Monday, April 29, 2013
On Tuesday afternoon Wake County Animal control was called to West Raleigh to remove a fox that was acting suspiciously. We were contacted today and advised that the animal had tested positive for rabies. We were also informed that there have been several reports/ dispatches within the Barringer Dr area for other foxes. They do not believe that this particular fox is the ONLY animal and cause of the reports. Please be vigilant in keeping an eye out for any suspicious animals that may enter the WR facilities. DO NOT APPROACH ANY ANIMAL IF YOU ENCOUNTER ONE AT THE FACILITY. In the event you see an animal on the property, please inform your coach or concession stand manager that is on duty that evening. To reduce any potential encounter, we suggest staying in well-lit areas and keep the kids away from the areas behind the fences of Nowell (Minor League) and Woodard (AL, NL and JL) fields. We understand that the kids enjoy playing at the complex, but this situation needs to be taken with the utmost seriousness. If anyone encounters an animal and is either bitten or scratched, they need to seek immediate medical attention.
